Now, and habits. projette covers both "I plan, to project" and "I am plan, to projecting" — French has no separate continuous form.
A completed past action. avoir conjugates and projeté does not — ai projeté.
An ongoing or habitual past. Built on the nous-present stem, so projetons gives you projetais.
About to happen. aller conjugates; projeter never moves — the easier future to produce under pressure.
Will happen. Built on projetter- — not the infinitive projeter. The conditional reuses this stem.
What this table tells you about projeter
The past participle is projeté, and it takes avoir in the passé composé — so it never changes shape, whoever the subject is. No agreement to remember here.
The futur simple is built on projetter-, which is not the infinitive projeter. This stem has to be learned, and it is the same one the conditional uses later.
In both the present and the imparfait, je, tu, il/elle and ils/elles are one sound: projette, projettes, projettent — indistinguishable spoken. Only nous and vous carry an audible ending.
The imparfait is built on the nous-present stem, so once you know projetons you already know projetais, projetait and projetaient. Futur proche keeps projeter untouched.
