Now, and habits. jette covers both "I throw" and "I am throwing" — French has no separate continuous form.
A completed past action. avoir conjugates and jeté does not — ai jeté.
An ongoing or habitual past. Built on the nous-present stem, so jetons gives you jetais.
About to happen. aller conjugates; jeter never moves — the easier future to produce under pressure.
Will happen. Built on jetter- — not the infinitive jeter. The conditional reuses this stem.
What this table tells you about jeter
The past participle is jeté, and it takes avoir in the passé composé — so it never changes shape, whoever the subject is. No agreement to remember here.
The futur simple is built on jetter-, which is not the infinitive jeter. This stem has to be learned, and it is the same one the conditional uses later.
In both the present and the imparfait, je, tu, il/elle and ils/elles are one sound: jette, jettes, jettent — indistinguishable spoken. Only nous and vous carry an audible ending.
The imparfait is built on the nous-present stem, so once you know jetons you already know jetais, jetait and jetaient. Futur proche keeps jeter untouched.
